Redynamics Asia streamlines POS Malaysia’s IT environment for efficiency and cost savings
BUSINESS NEEDS
POS Malaysia struggles with legacy hardware and IT service visibility
POS Malaysia has been a major postal service in Malaysia since the 1800s, serving over 29 million Malaysians through their 1,200 outlets. The IT department faces the challenge of managing the system to handle the volume of transactions from both staff and the public. With most of the system relying on income-generating applications, it needs to run smoothly.
However, the use of legacy hardware has made it challenging for POS to maintain and support the servers. Additionally, the IT department struggles to track and have visibility of the health state of their IT services end to end. Despite using monitoring tools, they still have to manually track the affected services.
SOLUTION

POS Malaysia’s IT upgrade:
Virtualization & improved monitoring
POS knew that in order to cope with the increasing usage of the system, the best move was to move the servers in virtualization environment giving them much flexibility in managing these servers. To facilitate the move, software used for this was upgraded to the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 using Hyper-V as the virtualization platform and System Center as the Management System. Redynamics Asia was chosen to deploy these solutions because of proven track record and prior engagements.
To handle the second pain point, System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) was deployed helping POS to understand the health state of their IT services much better.
